Shirazi salad

simple and bright Persian cucumber and tomato salad

This salad is the city of Shiraz’s most famous dish. Known as the cultural capital of Iran, Shiraz is famous for its stunning gardens and beautiful women. There is a saying in Iran: If a single man travels to Shiraz, he will return married.

ingredients

• 3 cucumbers, roughly chopped
• 5 tomatoes, roughly chopped
• 1 red onion, roughly chopped
• 2g (1 tbsp) dried mint
• 2 limes
• salt and pepper

preparation

• place the cucumber, onion and tomatoes in a large bowl
• add the juice of both limes
• add the dried mint, salt and pepper and mix well
• best served with spiced rice
