Since I moved to Holland I tried multiple Persian restaurants here, but Taste of Persia is just feeding my memory. What is so stunning about this restaurant, besides their warmth and hospitality, is the authenticity of Persian flavours.
You can order the most common of Iranian dishes to be found in the busy restaurants of Tehran. The portions are very generous and the prices are reasonable. My advice is to order only one dish for two people because the portions are huge. But if you'd like to bring home a doggy bag for your next day's lunch, go for it.
You will find a variety of starters, but for me, the best is the mix of starters which is served on a huge platter. The green frittata (kuku sabzi) is a must-try and theirs especially when ordered with freshly baked naan. Not to mention yoghurt and cucumber dip and marinated olives with pomegranate molasses and local herbs from the north of Iran.
Taste of Persia has a variety of grills, saffron chicken pieces, lamb kebab and shashlik. The lamb shank stew with favabean and dill rice is incredibly irresistible. They also serve traditional Iranian stews as the dishes of the day. If you are lucky you can order their ghorme zabzi stew or abgoosht (dizi) as the two most loved Persian dishes.
Taste of Persia is a reasonably priced package of lots of Persian tastes with authentic flavour, warmth and hospitality. This visit was on own initiative without invitation or payment by the restaurant.
