In one of my workshops I had 5 Dutch girls as participants who were friends for life and of course crazy for Iranian food. They shared their experience with me about an Iranian-Lebanese takeaway restaurant in Amsterdam. Being curious and excited to discover I arranged a night out with my husband to visit Le Sud and it was absolutely amazing.
The owner spoiled us with his Iranian hospitality as he let us taste nearly all his hummus variations and every one of them blew my mind. The chicken balls (the only non-vegetarian dish) were fingerpicking good especially when served with the pumpkin seed hummus.
At Le Sud you can find a meticulous choice of salads, spicy red lentils, green frittata (kuku sabzi) and lots of aubergines dishes. I don’t think I’ve ever been so spoiled for choice.
After a long chat in Persian he packed 5 different dishes for us neatly in environment-friendly packages. We then headed to Westerpark (3 minutes away), sat on the grass and enjoyed every bite of our food while watching the ducks and coots.
Le Sud is a small takeaway restaurant where the colours of the foods are truly inviting with a huge variety of Iranian-inspired Middle Eastern dishes that are all reasonably priced. This visit was on own initiative without invitation or payment by the restaurant.
